Clinton Plaza Apartments
$10,000 Paintings + Affordable Living
The Mulholland Group was thrilled to be entering the Syracuse market with the redevelopment of the Clinton Plaza building under HUD's Rent Adjustment Demonstration program. Internally the project was known as "The Royce" for the founder of the Mulholland Group.
Mulholland felt that affordable housing could be a nice place to live.
They set out to create a space that included many amenities not often found in affordable housing including partnering with a local college and providing classroom space on site. They approached Tim Wirtz with Graphic Image Flooring about reproducing a MoMA artists paintings for the elevator lobbies.
The Challenge:
The artist required complete approval of the colors and reproduction to ensure there were no variations. After receiving 22 Illustrator files of artwork our job was to recreate them printing on the second surface (under side) of our 1.9 mm thick clear polyvinyl flooring material. Test samples were printed one at a time and provided to the artists color specialist team for review. They were perfect in the first pass
The Result:
We believe that our custom printed commercial vinyl flooring turned out fantastic and was easy to install in one piece as inlays to the elevator lobbies. A project leader stated "The results were spectacular for 22 of the 24 floors in the building." - Marius M., Co-Founder BiographyPARTNER
